Errabelli moves to TRS; more MLAs likely to follow
Hyderabad: Errabelli Dayakar Rao quitting TTDP and joining TRS is a double whammy for the TTDP in as many days. Dayakar Rao who has been five-time MLA and hardcore TDP leader on Wednesday resigned from TDP and joined the TRS along with Rajendernagar MLA Prakash Goud.
KCR should give good rule instead of concentrating on defections. The Chief Minister was exhibiting his devilish intentions by resorting to act against the spirit of democracy by encouraging defections - A Revanth Reddy TTDP working president
Being an influential leader from Warangal district, Dayakar Rao will adorn the pink khanduva at a public meeting either at Nizam college grounds or in Warangal in the presence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
The decision of Rao to join TRS was preceded by a lengthy meeting between him and minister for major irrigation T Harish Rao on Wednesday evening. Later accompanied by Harish Rao, Dayakar Rao called on the Chief Minister at his camp office and announced that he was joining the pink party.
I have nothing against Naidu. He had given me high respect. I have affection for the party. It is a hard decision. Being an MLA, I have not been able even to develop my own constituency - Errabelli Dayakar Rao TDP floor leader in Legislative Assembly
The yellow party, which has been haunted by defections, is now left with just six MLAs in the legislative assembly. In fact Dayakar Rao has been on the TRS radar for long. In September 2014 he met the Chief Minister secretly around midnight and it was speculated that his joining was just a matter of time.
But certain developments like sacking of the then deputy chief minister T Rajaiah and inducting Kadiyam Srihari in his place had made Dayakar Rao retreat from his decision. Both Srihari and Dayakar Rao belong to the same district and have political differences.
It may be mentioned here that Dayakar Rao has many reasons for joining the TRS apart from the fact that the TDP is not in a position to revive from the jolts it has been receiving ever since the new State was formed.
Though Dayakar Rao has been made the floor leader, he has been unhappy with the TDP leadership as the party national president N Chandrababu Naidu has been giving greater importance to A Revanth Reddy who is known to be close to Nara Lokesh in party matters.
Even after Revanth was caught red handed in the cash-for-vote case, Naidu had appointed him as the TTDP working president and Revanth was also given the charge of GHMC polls. This had not gone well with Dayakar Rao. Speaking to media Dayakar Rao said that he had tried to save the TTDP but failed to do so. “I feel that the party cannot be revived in Telangana.
I have nothing against Naidu. He had given me high respect. I have affection for the party. It is a hard decision. Being an MLA I have not been able even to develop my own constituency.TRS has become synonymous with development of Telangana and hence I have also decided to join the party.
Some more MLAs are also likely to join TRS soon,” he added. Rao said that he had neither asked for any post nor was he offered one by KCR. But political circles say that KCR might go in for cabinet reshuffle soon and may accommodate Dayakar Rao in the council of ministers.
Talking to The Hans India TTDP working president A Revanth Reddy said KCR should give good rule instead of concentrating on defections. The Chief Minister was exhibiting his devilish intentions by resorting to act against the spirit of democracy by encouraging defections, he added.
Pointing out that in the past Nadendla Bhaskar Rao, PV Narasimha Rao and YS Rajasekhar Reddy had also tried to split TDP and eliminate its presence in Andhra Pradesh, he said that all of them failed in doing so.
He stated that TDP would be rejuvenated by bringing in young blood and by encouraging the people from weaker sections in politics.
The decision of TTDP MLAs joining TRS has a strong reason. The yellow party had not only got a drubbing in Warangal by elections and GHMC polls in which it lost about 15 per cent of its vote share, it was also lagging behind badly in Narayankhed where by election is to be held on 13th.
