Hyderabad: On the lines of ‘Yadadri’ and ‘Vemulawada’, the Telangana government is preparing plans to revive the historical temples and construct new ones across the State, with the objective to promote temple tourism in the State in a big way.

In this regard, the Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy held a meeting here on Saturday to review the condition of historical dilapidated temples and the ongoing construction activities of new temples in the weaker sections’ colonies under the Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam (DDN) scheme.

He said his government would allocate Rs 100 crore under the Common Good Fund (CGF) for the maintenance of temples. He also informed about the government’s decision to increase the funds for construction of each temple in SC and ST colonies from the present Rs 3 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.

Instructing officials to prepare a detailed report on the status of existing historical temples, the minister said funds would be allocated in the new financial year to revive those temples based on the reports of the officials. Endowments commissioner Shivshankar and other officials were present at the meeting.
