1,44,368 getting HZCT aid

Speaking during the Annual Meet and Iftar function, Chairman of Hyderabad Zakat and Charitable Trust (HZCT) and Foundation for Economic and Educational Development (FEED) Ghaisuddin Babukhan said, “If Zakat is distributed through a collective system, it can address the needs of the underprivileged and the needy in an organised and systematic manner.”

This year the trust has planned to distribute 14,528 food packs among students, orphan children, families and deserving people as a part of its Ramadan 2016 aid. A total of Rs 1.32 crore is being spent on 3800 fitra packs, 3528 Eid cloth packs and food backs.

Presenting the annual report Babukhan said, “the trust has spent over Rs 100 crore in the last 24 years, with this year’s amount of Rs 10.26 crore benefitting 1,44,368 people in the year 2015-16 alone.”

“The trust has been managing 99 urdu-medium schools, 3 english-medium schools, of which 70 per cent are girls. A total of Rs 1.40 crore is spent on just school education projects which is benefitting over 24,000 students”, he added.

“A collective system of Zakat is the need of the hour for a prosperous society,” stated Babukhan. Lauding the yeomen services of the trust under the guidance of Babukhan, former secretary to Government of India Habeeb Khaja said,

“The trust has distributed scholarships worth Rs 2.44 crore to 1,433 students across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharasthra, including Rs 1.18 crore to 151 students of HIE.”

The meeting also witnessed the presence of trustee of FEED, Ziauddin Nayyar along with Abdul Aleem Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Mufti Mohammed Azam.
