The Gitanjali Devshala School celebrated its 20th year at Balamrai in Secunderabad on Wednesday. As part of the celebration, which was organised on the theme ‘Waving for Inclusion’, the school promoted acceptance, inclusion and integration.

Over 3,542 students of the Gitanajali Group of School along with three special schools from the city took part in it. Student waved the tricolour to the melodious song “Sare jahan se accha”.

The patriotic fervour echoed through the community with the message to treat differently-abled people as equals. The event evoked high response from the students and staff.

Addressing the gathering, Chairman of Gitanjali Group, Uma Karan said, “The objective of the event was to sensitise the community while building patriotic fervour.

Therefore, we thought we can attempt to make an entry into the ‘Limca Book of Records’ as the largest congregation of schoolchildren and special children waving the national flag.”

“It is a proud and happiest moment for group of Gitanjali Devshala,” he said. The programme was an amalgamation of hues; the students spread the colorurs of peace and happiness with their beautiful rendition of Bhangra, Bihu and dandiya in traditional attire.

School Principal Madhvi Chandra handed over 1,500 cards to the Nathula pass, which were prepared by students with a special message to the Indian soldiers.
