South Central Railway (SCR) Medical Department orgainised a seminar on ‘Breast Cancer and Health Awareness’ at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad on Wednesday. The camp was organised under the aegis of Dr KHK Dora, Chief Medical Director, SCR.

South Central Railway (SCR) Medical Department orgainised a seminar on ‘Breast Cancer and Health Awareness’ at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad on Wednesday. The camp was organised under the aegis of Dr KHK Dora, Chief Medical Director, SCR.

Dr AVSK Prasad, Deputy Chief Medical Director made a comprehensive lecture using multi-media presentation and explained about the risk factors, preventive measures related to the disease. He also explained the mode of physical introspection of breasts to detect cancer at an early stage.

“Feel a monthly test keeps the breast cancer away,” he said. He advised that factors like exploring to light, obesity, deficiency of Vitamin-D, avoiding breast feeding may leads to cancer and he emphasized on the precautions.

Dr M Suvarna Jyothi, Dy. Chief Medical Director/Health & Family Welfare/Secunderabad stressed the need and importance about self and annual clinical examination to identify unwanted lumps which may lead to cancer, seeking professional advice and undergoing mammogram screening for women beyond 40 years. She also explained techniques of conducting breast self examination (BSE).
