Warangal Urban: The district-level sports meet for differently abled students held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium grounds in the city on Friday has evoked good response.

Special Olympics Bharath state committee has organised the in association with union sports and youth affairs ministry.

The sports meet was launched by Warangal police Commissionerate central zone DCP MS Venugopal Rao. Speaking on the occasion, he said sporting activities would help to bring out skills of the differently abled persons.

If only proper guidance and support was provided, they could excel and emerge as good sporting personalities, he felt and added that sports and games should be conducted regularly to promote competitive spirit among differently abled persons.

The district Child Welfare Committee Chairperson K Anitha Reddy addressing the gathering said physically and mentally challenged persons were blessed with special skills.

She stressed on the need to explore talent hidden among physically and mentally challenged persons.

The district sports officer S Indira, Special Olympics Bharath state committee area director C Rajashekar, Mallikamba Manovikasa Kendram organiser B Ramleela and others were present.
