An elated Manohar said, “It is a matter of great pride for Telangana. WCA played significant part in getting cycling included in the new urban agenda at Habitat III.

The United Nations (UN) Habitat III Conference recognised the Hyderabad Cycling Project amongst the twenty best Social Projects in the world.

This was announced by DV Manohar, Chairman, Hyderabad Bicycling Club (HBC) & All India Bicycling Federation and Board Member, World Cycling Alliance (WCA), Brussels and NVS Reddy, MD, Hyderabad Metro Rail on Tuesday.

An elated Manohar said, “It is a matter of great pride for Telangana. WCA played significant part in getting cycling included in the new urban agenda at Habitat III.

Salvation for urban areas plagued by pollution is cycling and therefore there is a need to promote the concept of Smart Mobility in the cities.”

Reddy said, “Hyderabad Cycling Project getting recognition and kudos at the global level even before the project has started, shows what work has gone behind it.”

Refuting rumours against the Metro Rail, Reddy said, “Our total project is of 72km off which 60 km foundation is done, pillars are completed in 57 km, 48 km viaduct is laid.

“We are having issues with Railways. They are demanding exorbitantly high cost, sometimes more than the cost involved with the construction of the bridge,” he said.
