Mancherial: There was no need for women and college students to be afraid of anti-social elements since the State government was taking special measures to protect them, Ramagundam Police Commissioner Vikram Jeet Duggal assured.

He inaugurated an awareness programme about SHE teams, organised by the department here on Thursday. About 3,000 students of various colleges attended the programme.

The Commissioner urged the women to give information to the police if they were harassed. He warned of taking strong action against those misbehaving or harassing women.

‘Students should feel confident that the Police Commissioner is with them if any eve-teaser or rowdy-sheet harasses them,’ Duggal told The Hans India.

Duggal said special teams have been constituted to reduce crime rate in Ramagundam. The Commissionerate includes Peddapalli and Mancherial districts.

Mancherial DCP John Wesley, ACP Ramana Reddy, local CI Sudhakar, SHE Team SI Suman Rathod were among those present.
