​Karimnagar: For the first time in the country, the Telangana government established Minority welfare schools to provide better and quality education to Minority students in the State, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender said.

The Minister attended as a chief guest at the programme organised in the auditorium of the Collectorate here on Friday to celebrate ‘National Education and Minority Welfare Day’ to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, the first education minister of independent India.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the previous governments had allotted Rs 200 crores only for the welfare of the Minorities but the TRS government has allotted Rs 1,200 crores for uplifting of the Minorities in the State.

He also said that the government respects the traditions and culture of all religions and considering everybody as equal has been celebrating all festivals grandly.

The government was issuing loans to Minorities on 80 per cent subsidy, which no other State was offering. Even the Central government was showing interest on various schemes implemented in the State.

It was also taking necessary steps to start the same in other States, claimed the Finance Minister. ‘Development is possible only through imparting better education. Keeping this in mind, the Telangana government started nearly 161 welfare schools in the State during the present academic year.

The students who are studying in these schools will have the potential to survive anywhere in the world. Better educational standards are maintained in such a way in the Welfare schools established in the State,’ added the Minister.

Moulana Abdul Kalaam Azad had strived hard for the development of education in the country. By taking him as inspiration, everyone must work to develop education in the State, Eatala said.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Tula Uma, MLC Naradas Lakshman Rao, Husnabad MLA Satish Kumar, City Mayor Ravinder Singh, District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed, Minority Welfare Officer Ahmed and Minority leaders Md Asif, Syed Akbar, Hussain and Jameel were present along with others.
