Mancherial: The district CCS police on Monday arrested a cyber criminal, Manoj Kumar (27) of Kashitar village in Jharkhand, who allegedly cheated several persons.

They acted on a complaint received from a victim Kallem Rama Rao of Mulkalla village within Hajipur police limits.

According to the police, Manoj Kumar called Rama Rao on his mobile four months ago and asked the latter’s bank details, claiming himself as bank manager. Rama Rao gave the details.

Later, Rama Rao received phone messages that Rs 21,380 was withdrawn from his account in four transactions.

Rao was shocked and approached the bank manager to inform that someone had withdrawn cash from his account. His complaint was forwarded to the Hajipur police.

After ascertaining that Manoj Kumar had withdrawn the amount, the police went to Jharkhand and nabbed him. They brought the accused here, DCP John Wesley told The Hans India.

Stating that many cyber criminals were well educated, he advised bank customers not to reveal their account numbers and ATM passwords to anybody.

The DCP complimented the police team which nabbed Manoj Kumar. He is to be produced in a court.
