The ongoing show titled ‘Trending Tweets’ at Kalakriti Art Gallery comprises both sculptures and paintings by Shivarama Chary and Anand Gadapa’s works; a rare collaboration to show modern art in a traditional medium.

Sculpture artist Shivarama Chary’s work ‘Blossoming Love’ series is to express the eternal bond between men and women.

He says, “I worked on male and female figurines that predominantly occupy the heavily treated and patinas brass surfaces.

I sculpt in order to forge a dialogue between, what is generally called, the ‘inner’ and the ‘outer’ realms of human consciousness.

In doing so, there is no attempt to favour either the inner or the outer, but a creative engagement with the never-ending tension that permeates the world of things and the world of thoughts, emotions or feelings,”

Anand Gadapa, an art historian and critic, presented his acrylic on canvas paintings - ‘Unknown Dialects’ series, which show “the characters similar to marionette being engaged in amusement at indistinct spatio-temporal arena that mirrors the state of affairs in everyday life around us.

They are tacit representations of fantasies born out of fear, love, and sensuous pleasure and his subject matter becomes symptomatic narrative but with more of a pun infused in it,”

They came together for the first time though they know each other from past 20-years. Shivarama Chary says, “We decided to come together two years ago, and worked since last six months.

I learnt fundamental things from my father. This collaboration is the purpose to show the traditional practices of sculpture making (by using traditional medium) with my touch of modern style to show nature’s role in a man-woman relationship,”

Anand Gadapa shares, “I tried to show the ambiguity using metaphoric rudiments, gestures, and the formulation of visual vocabulary to obscure.

My art has permitted me the ‘autonomy’ to express emotions through these physiognomies, while preserving the humour in portraying people and situations.

I feel that a male , be it tiger or a lion, with the female he becomes a puppet and that is my imagination which carries ambiguous meanings.

The works are delightful, and Shivarama Chary says, “We presented modern art in a traditional medium, where the sizes are comfortable and even the price.”
