Karimnagar: The government is determined to brighten the future of students studying in welfare schools and hostels by providing all necessary basic facilities to them and investing Rs 500 crores for supply fine quality rice to them, said Finance Minister Eatala Rajendar in Karimnagar on Monday.

The Minister inspected various welfare schools and hostels in Karimnagar city on the day and enquired students about problems they are facing with.He also asked the students whether they were getting eggs four days in a week or not with good food and curries. He enquired about bed sheets and school uniforms and told them to bring to his notice if they are facing any problem so that he can take steps for solving them immediately.

Responding to the Minister, students said they were given upma as breakfast everyday and requested him to get chutney instead of sambar with the breakfast every day.The Minister then tasted upma with sambar and ordered the persons concerned to change the breakfast items, so that students can have different varieties of breakfast.

Speaking on the occasion, Eatala Rajendar said the government is investing Rs 750 per student studying up to 7th class and Rs 850 per student studying up to 10th class per month. The government is investing nearly Rs 1,400 to Rs 1,500 (for four pairs of clothes, bed sheets and blankets) on every student studying in welfare schools and hostels along with 24-hour water supply and uninterrupted power supply by establishing solar systems.

The Minister ordered the teachers to conduct competitions to students on elocution, essay writing, quiz and general knowledge for improving their skills.By appointing special teachers to take evening classes from evening 7.30 to 9.30 all the pending works will be completed by the end of January, assured the Minister.

Inspecting the School for Blind, the Finance Minister assured the students the school would be upgraded as per their convenience. A language teacher and a night watchman would be appointed soon and a compound wall with the iron mesh work to prevent the entry of grazing animals would be erected.

District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Tula Uma, Chairman of Telangana Cultural Department Rasmai Bala Kishan, MLA Gangula Kamalakar and MLC Naradasu Lakshman Rao were present along with others.
