With Sankranti holiday falling on Saturday, people are taking to interesting getaways thanks to the long weekend. For employees of the IT world this comes as an added bonus of relaxation because a few companies are offering holidays on either Friday or on Monday.

Sharing her plans Soumya from Intergraph Company says, “We planned for a school reunion and decided to meet and spend some quality. A few of my friends are planning a trip to Gandikota!”

Lohit Dacha a Software Engineer who is here for a vacation says, “I landed in the right period. Last time when I was here, all my friends were busy with work but, now we already planned a trip of four days to Goa.”

The festive feel is abounding all over the city. While most companies are giving holidays others are compensating by organising fun activities at office place, such as ‘traditional day’ and ‘food fests’.

However, there are a few who say that festive feel comes only when they stay with family. Vamshi from Cignti Technologies says, “Sankranti is a festival that is more beautifully celebrated in villages.

If one has to get a festive feel then it is obvious that they should go to their villages and celebrate with all rituals and customs.”

Syeda Hajira Tayyaba from IBM adds, “I have so many festive invitations to attend this weekend. We planned for a small trip to Ananthagiri Hills in Vikarabad.”

The added advantage for many working in the IT sector is that it being the beginning of the year, most of the companies have no particular deadlines for project submissions yet. “So, this is the perfect time for us to head out,” says Tayyaba.
