He said there were no specific allotments for the farmers in Rs 21.47 lakh of crore of budget presented on Wednesday.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi who lured the farming sector by his words that he was determined for the welfare of the farmers have raised the hopes in farmers who that their loans would be waived off in view of note ban. But by seeing the budget, they are disappointed greatly,” he said.
“Boasting that he would make agriculture sector more profitable, Narendra Modi is trying to introduce contract system in agriculture sector which is very dangerous,” he observed.
“Without giving minimum support price for the produce and implementing the recommendations of Swaminathan Commission, how Modi is going to make agriculture sector more profitable?” he questioned.
He demanded the Central government to make certain changes in the budget by including mechanisation within the reach of poor farmers, giving complete subsidy on farm implements and seeds along with sanctioning of loans without interest to the farming community.
2017 Budget is pro-rich: CPM
State executive secretary of CPM Pothineni Sudharshan Rao alleged that Budget, 2017 presented by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was meant to benefit only rich but not the common man.
A meeting was held with the mandal secretaries and district in-charges of the CPM party, under the leadership of the Bukya Veerabhadram, here at Sundaraiah Bhavan in Khammam on Wednesday.
Speaking in the meeting, Pothineni alleged that Modi’s government did not mention why the decision of demonetisation was taken due to which 130 crore of people suffered and many of them are continued to suffer.
“By making the way easy for foreign investors, the government is trying to sell the public organisations, and also by allotting money both for agriculture sector and rural development jointly the government is trying to deceive people,” he criticised.
“What is the use of adding of railway budget in general budget without mentioning of filing of 1.42 lakh vacant posts?” he questioned.
“The budget did not include the controlling of prices of daily commodities, which are hitting the roofs day-by-day and becoming a burden on poor and middleclass in the country,” he pointed.
District secretary of the CPM party Ponnam Venkateshwarlu urged the party activists, intellectuals and the people’s organisations to participate in the large numbers in the Mahapada Yatra on February 3, and make it a grand success.
Party leaders Nunna Nageshwar Rao, Yerra Srikanth, Kalyanam Venkateshwar Rao, Bandi Ramesh, Yerra Srinivas Rao, Y Vikram, D Krishna, M Sathyanarayana, K Narasaiah, Afroz Sameena, Macharla Bharathi and Vedagiri Srinivas Rao were present along with others.
