​Suryapet: District Collector Surendra Mohan promised the organisers of Aaleti Aatom Orphan and Rehabilitation Centre for Mentally-Challenged, located at Durajpalli, of providing Rs 50,000 per month from available funds for the welfare of the inmates.

On Friday, the Collector along with an NRI Saidi Reddy visited the centre and spent time with the inmates. Speaking on the occasion, Surendra Mohan said he will extend financial aid to the centre and a letter would be written to the Department of Civil Supplies for the sanction of rice to all the 100 inmates of the centre.

He further informed that in order to provide pensions, enrollment for Aadhaar cards has been taken up. So far, 23 inmates have got their Aadhaar registration done. “All Aadhaar card holders will pension of Rs 1500 from March,” he said, assuring monthly health checkup by doctors.

He further promised to sanction of 3 acres of land for the construction of permanent building. Later, he handed over the cheque for Rs 50,000 to the organisers of the centre.

State Digital Literacy director Radhakrishna Murthy and others accompanied the Collector.
