Bhupalpalli: Relying on deeds instead of words, Jayashanker Bhupalpalli District Collector Akunoori Murali, has set an example in promoting government hospitals by admitting his pregnant daughter at a local civil hospital for delivery.

The Collector admitted his daughter, Pragathi, at Mulug government civil hospital on Friday when she went into labour for her first child. She gave birth to a healthy baby girl weighing 2.250kg.

Pragathi, who was married to S Pradeep and settled in Hyderabad, came to her maternal home in Bhupalpalli 15 days ago for the first delivery. The Collector, Murali and his wife Sujatha have decided to admit their daughter at Mulug civil hospital.

A team of doctors led by the district medical and health officer (DMHO) Dr Allem Attaiah has decided to go for cesarean section as Pragathi was suffering from thyroid related problem and normal delivery was not possible.

Team of doctors includes Lavanya, Suguna, Mugda, Lalitha Devi along with anaesthetist Narayana Reddy. Following the delivery of the child the DMHO Dr Attaiah informed that both the new born child and the mother were healthy.

It might be noted that some time back the district administration has introduced a programme promoting institutional deliveries and child deliveries at government hospital. The Collector, who was in elation for becoming grand-father, told press persons that he wanted to stand as an example to the people in promoting government hospitals in the district.

The district administration has taken the programme of promoting child deliveries at government hospitals in a prestigious manner. The government hospitals in the district were well equipped and quality treatment was being offered. The public should make use of the, he added.

Round the clock services were being offered at eight primary health centres and at Mulug, Eturunagaram, Chityal and Mahadevpur civil hospitals. ‘I want public to trust quality of services at these hospitals and hence admitted my daughter at Mulug civil hospital,’ the Collector Murali said.
