​Khammam: The representatives of Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) demanded the government to severely punish the persons carrying out illegal sex determination tests and those responsible for female foeticides.

Speaking at a district general body meeting held here at Ambedkar Bhavan in Khammam on Wednesday, MRPS member P Madhu alleged that some of the private hospitals and scanning centres in the city were carrying out sex determination tests and encouraging female foeticides to earn easy money.

Officials must register criminal cases against the persons involved in such shady business and boycott them socially, they demanded, stating that they would otherwise attack the persons if government failed to take any action. MRPS district president Thotapalli Murali Krishna and other members attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, Telangana Mahila Samakya accused the government of not taking any serious action against the persons carrying out sex determination tests and encouraging female foeticides. Speaking at a meeting in Khammam on Wednesday, Samakya’s state president Potu Kalavathi criticised that the officials of remaining nonchalant over the issue.

Despite lodging several complaints against the hospitals and scanning centres, the officials are remaining mute over the issue. Taking this an advantage, some of the hospitals are continuing the shady business and playing with the lives of poor and innocent by encouraging female foeticides by deploying under qualified technicians and staff, she criticised.

“We have received information that out of three persons arrested by police on Tuesday, who indulged in illegal sex determination tests, two were let off on bail. Is this the way of treating the accused involved in criminal cases?” she questioned, demanding stringent punishment to the accused.
