Sircilla: Stringent action will be taken against those, who use sub-standard edible oils to prepare various food items in food stalls that would spoil health of the people, Food Safety Officer Ravinder Rao warned.

Addressing the media at District Public Relation Office (DPRO) here on Monday, Ravinder Rao said that they are conducting sudden raids on various food stalls to check whether they are using sub-standard edible oils in preparing food items.

Samples of 15 types of edible oils were collected from different food stalls in the district after the district reorganisation from Karimnagar till date and sent them to Hyderabad lab for testing. Seven out of these 15 were found to be sub-standard edible oils.

‘The report about the sub-standard edible oils received from Hyderabad lab had been submitted to Joint Collector and Adjudication Officer Yasmine Basha. Necessary actions would be taken against the owners of the food stalls, who are using sub-standard edible oils after receiving the JC gives orders,’ the Food Safety Officer informed.

He suggested the public to complain to the phone number 9885687765, if they find adulterated food items in any shop and less quality of food materials sold in any food stalls.

Later the Food Safety Officer along with the staff - Praveen and Waheed of DCS department - inspected the quality of various food items in different food stalls, retail stores, bakeries and super markets in Siricilla town.
