Kamareddy: The possible reconstitution of Assembly constituencies in the newly formed district is being discussed about widely. The political circles are agog with discussions on the topic with feelers emerging that the Center is favourably disposed to reorganise the constituencies. People are hotly debating over which mandals will go to which constituency. The discussions veer around the possible creation of new Assembly constituencies in the district.

Kamareddy was formed as part of the reorganisation of districts for greater administrative convenience. The district has Kamareddy, Yellareddy, Banswada and Jukkal Assembly constituencies. Three mandals of Banswada Assembly constituency were transferred to Nizamabad district.

With the formation of new districts, new revenue divisions and new mandals like Banswada and Yellareddy came into existence. The new mandals that were created are Babipeta, Rajampeta, Ramareddy, Peddakondapgal and Nasrullahbad.

People are of the view that the new Assembly constituencies will be redrawn on the basis of new mandals created. Of the four Assembly constituencies in the district, the Kamareddy constituency has five mandals under its jurisdiction, Yellareddy has eight , Banswada has three and Jukkal has six.

There are 13 mandals in Kamareddy and Yellareddy constituencies put together. Speculations are rife that new Assembly constituencies are reorganised culling out some of the mandals. One of the mandals in the Jukkal constituency will bemerged with the Banswada, which has only three.

The mandals merged with Nizamabad district – Kotagiri, Varni and Rudrur – will be merged with Assembly constituencies of that district. It appears that an Assembly constituency is definitely going to be reorganised in Kamareddy district with reorganization of some of the mandals, the people are hotly debating over which of the mandals possibly be listed under which constituency.

According to political analysts, the BJP at the Center will use reorganization of Assembly constituencies as a weapon to capture power in the Telugu states. Several political leaders have pinned their hopes on rejig of Assembly constituencies for their political future and hence are seeking the early reorganisation.
