The World Cancer Rose Day was observed on Monday. It signifies real love, care and concern for all cancer fighters. Continental Hospitals brought together patients, doctors and well-wishers who indulged in a meaningful interaction with an aim to improve the quality of life of cancer patients.

Dr Ramana Murthy Chitti, radiation oncologist, Continental Cancer Centre, distributed roses and brought back smiles on patients.

“We are together with all the cancer patients in India and the world in our fight against cancer,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anuradha Reddy gave special tips and diet guidelines to all the patients and encouraged them to fight the disease with sheer courage and determination.

“In this way we can fight against cancer diligently,” she said.

About Cancer Rose Day

September 22 is observed as World Cancer Rose Day to commemorate the courageous Melinda Rose Hathaway from Canada who bravely survived cancer. In spite of the fact that doctors had given her only six weeks of survival time, she fought with the disease against all odds and lived for six more months. During those six months, she became a beacon of hope for other cancer patients and dedicated herself to make their lives cheerful. The courage and sheer determination with which she withstood this deadly disease was an amazing feat.
