Continental Hospitals organised a ‘Kidney Patient Meet’, to raise awareness about the rising cases of end stage kidney failure and the available options to treat this condition on Monday.

Through this event all patients were made aware about kidney transplantation, its benefits and appropriate solution for patients whose kidneys have failed.

The event had four kidney donors talking about the need for donation.

“In India many people still think that once kidney fails dialysis is the only suitable option, but being on dialysis is not a complete and permanent solution because dialysis offers only 10 per cent efficiency. It is merely a survival for the patient, but not a permanent solution,” said a donor.

“Life after transplantation is less complicated and the transplanted kidney from a live donor lasts for 15 to 20 years and anyone aged between 18-50 years, irrespective of gender can donate the organ,” said a doctor.
