The word homeopathy comes from the greek homoio pathis or similar suffering.Homeopathy has been practised for about 200 years and has become one of the most popular among the wide range of alternative therapies available.

Unlike conventional medicine ,homeopathic medications are not prescribed according to a specifc and exact definition of the illness, but are determined by an assessment of an individual’s life force, which the treatment seeks to restore to balance.
If the life force is disturbed, this weakens the body’s defence system, allowing disease causing germs to enter the organism. For this reason each patient receives a medication that is tailor made for his or her requirements. This different approach taken by homeopathy makes it difficult for the practitioners to show convincingly that homeopathic preparations are equally effective.
So, What does a Homeopath Look in a patient?
A Homeopath will look at a patients tendency to pathological reactions, their sensibility type and their constitution .Sensibility type comprises features such as body size, sweating or dryness of tongue etc.Constitution comprises above features and also psychic and physiological qualities of a patient.

Where does the base solution for Homeopathic medications come from?
The base solutions for homeopathic medications come from various plant, animal, mineral or metallic substances. These are then classified as D-potency-C-potency or Q-potency.
What is Potentiation The base solution are classified according to their degree of dilution-D-potency(dilution 1:9) C- potency(dilution 1:99) Q-potency(1:50000).If one drop of base solution is mixed with 99 drops of water and alcohol, the preparation is said to be a mixture of C-potency.
During this process it is essential that the mixture be shaken in the prescribed manner. This procedure is known as potentiation. So if a homeopathic medication is labelled C200, then the active ingredient has been diluted with water and alcohol 200 times in a relation of 1:99.
What are the dry globules in a homeopathic medication ?
At the end of the shaking(potentiation),the resultant solution is poured onto small pills of pure lactose (a sugar derived from milk)and the fluid saturates the globules. Finally they are dried and bottled. A patient taking homeopathic medication simply swallows the dry globules.
Why is homepathic globules taken in the bootle cap for consuming?
Touching the homeopathic globules with the finger could neutralise them, that is why it is important not to touch them and take the medication by using the bottle cap only. The globules are placed directly under the tongue which has a strong supply of blood. The substance can then rapidly enter the blood stream.

What are the debatable issues regarding homeopathy?
Homeopathic medications are highly diluted so scientists believe that highly diluted substances no longer contain a trace of the original substance. So such substances cannot have healing effects.
Homeopaths counter this belief with the explanation known as the imprint theory or the ‘memory of water’.This theory states that even after various stages of dilution and shaking, water retains a clear imprint of the substances that have been diluted in it. In effect the water remembers information about the substance ,even if it no longer contains a single molecule of it.
