Liver is susceptible to swelling due to contaminated food material , water, alcohol, smoking etc. which is called HEPATITIS . ABCDE Viruses cause hepatitis among which B and C viruses are dangerous.

The risk of these viruses is more due to blood transplantation and unprotected coitus. It will be extremely good to get the children vaccinated as per their vaccination schedule. It is better not to resort to self medication and country treatment when symptoms are noticed. Since Hepatitis B infections are more in Asian countries, liver cancers are also on the rise.

There are two types of liver cancers namely Hepatosetular carcinoma, and Metastatic liver cancer. Liver cancers noticed late are more dangerous. Liver cancers are more after cancers of stomach and lung. This cancer is more seen in India, China, Honkong, Taiwan, Korea, and South Africa due to hepatitis B infections.

Up to 70% of Hepatitis C cases are noticed in Japan . Liver cancer is more conspicuous due to Hepatitis B infection virus in Asians settled in America. Hepatitis B positive coupled with alcohol and cancer becomes severe and untreatable. Stomachache, loss of weight, jaundice, formation of water in stomach, vomiting, nausea, lack pf appetite, like symptoms are seen in advanced liver cancer.

Besides blood tests with Alphapheta protein,ultrasound, CT, MRI,PEP scans , liver biopsy as per doctor’s advice, Liver cancer stage can be known in advance. The size of the cyst and duration varies from person to person . Surgery may not be possible because of liver cirrhosis even if cyst is noticed initially.

Trials will be made to reduce the size of the cyst or to remove the cyst with chemotherapy with medicines,Trans arterial chemo embolisation ( TACE), Radio oblation, Sterio tactor Radio surgery tests. If the cyst is small , and the rest of the liver is in good condition , surgery is the best option. If it is severe , liver transplantation gives good results. It is better to get the children vaccinated at the time of birth. Liver screening tests are always advisable.
