The GHMC has passed a notice ordering all traders under its limits to renew their trade licences as per sections 521 and 621 of the HMC Act, 1955 for the year 2013-2014. They can renew their licence in any e-seva centre or Citizen Service Centre under the GHMC limits.

Traders who have not yet applied for a licence must apply online or approach the e-seva or Citizen Service Centre to apply for fresh trade licences. Fresh licences must be applied for immediately in order to avoid legal proceedings. To renew trade licence before August 31, traders have to pay 25% of the trade licence fee as penalty in addition to the original fee. If the renewal is done on or after September 1, 50% penalty will be fined along with the original licencing fee.

Traders who do not obtain licence and yet continue their business will be considered as un-licenced trades and the GHMC Commissioner will have the right to close their premises and obtain all the goods and articles of the trade, as per the GHMC Act, 1955.
