M T Krishna Babu, Commissioner, GHMC has appealed to all the citizens to enroll their ward’s name on the birth certificate, including those who have crossed 15 years from the date of birth. This rule has been implemented because the GHMC had received many complaints in their grievance cell with regard to the birth certificates. The GHMC has written a letter to the government for the second time asking them for a relaxation to enroll a child’s name in the birth certificate.

The letter written by the GHMC has asked the government to relax clause (I) under (II) of sub rule (I) of rule 10 of the birth and death rules 1999. The present rule states that everyone should register for the birth certificate within 3 days from the date of birth. The commissioner had appealed to everyone who needed a birth certificate to enroll their names immediately. He further instructed the people to furnish the child’s correct name in the records as from now onwards the names cannot be modified.
