The present female-male ratio in Medak is 943 females per 1000 males and 650 females per 1000 males in Punjab and Haryana States. Female foeticide has been the primary reason for the declining population of women, even in 21st century. Even though Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act of 1994 was enacted to put a stop to the barbaric act, in many areas of AP, female foeticide continues to happen due to a greedy section of our Healthcare system, which has been charging huge amounts of money for foetal sex determination and sex selective abortion.

An awareness programme and rally for the protection of ‘Girl-Child and Environment,’ was held at Siddipet on Tuesday, by Vibhas, an NGO which is based in Gajwel. “Every man needs a mother, sister, a wife and a girl friend. But nobody wants a girl-child. Mostly educated people are using scanning system for determining the sex of the foetus. It should be remembered that woman is the centre of creation,” said M Kumaraswamy.

“Bangarutalli hasn’t reached the people yet. There are certain modifications which need to be done and more awareness needs to be spread about the scheme, which is well-intended,” he said. Dr Sivananda assured that he would make sure that regular monitoring would be done to check the ultra-scan machines and that he would make sure female foeticide won’t happen under his nose.
