It has been a dream collaboration for the city-based Hawaiian guitar artiste Jaywant Naidu that came true thanks to the Manganiar musician from Rajasthan, Chota Bhutte Khan ; the video album of the national song ‘Vande Maataram’ with the rhythms and melody of the Manganiar musicians and the rich tones from the strings of Jaywant Guitar with the enchanting Kalbeliya dancers from the snake charmers community of Rajasthan adding to the charm.

“Two years ago, I collaborated with an American trumpet player Charlie Porter for ‘Jana Gana Mana.’ I happened to meet the members of Bhutte Khan Manganiar group who have come to Hyderabad to perform for several shows. I also happened to perform along with them. After listening to ‘Jana Gana Mana’ on trumpet and my guitar, they wanted to work with me,” shares Jaywant.

“We took a day to record the song and another day to make the music video. But it was a long process; we were planning and working since one year on this project,” he adds. Chota Bhutte Khan has sung in his typical rustic Rajasthani folk style which gives a unique quality to the video. “The Khan group is spontaneous and sang ‘Vande Maataram’ in their inimitable style. They are natural musicians and I can say that they are very creative.

They don’t need any guidance, they do their own work with perfection,” relates Jaywant The video album has been filmed at the famous Taramati Baradari monument in Hyderabad. In addition to Jaywant playing the guitar, the video has Bhutte Khan himself along with Sakhi Khan giving the vocal, Bhunger Khan on Khartaal, Nihal Khan on Been Mohamed (Kamaicha) with the dance by Senu Sapera and Elchi Sapera.

“We will upload the music video on 15th August 2013 via news channels and YouTube,” says Jaywant.
