The digitisation of rare manuscripts in Arabic, Persian and Urdu is underway at the Salar Jung Museum. The manuscripts will be saved and protected by this project for eternity and will be a boon to researchers in the future said a museum official. Digitisation of more than 100 illustrated manuscripts would being soon. The project is to be completed by March 2014 and would be uploaded on the net for people.

Among the rare manuscripts there are also copies of the Quran written almost 1,000 years ago. The idea for the digitisation project is two-fold- to save them from getting spoilt and preserving them for future generations said, a senior official of the museum. There is also an artifact in the manuscript collection; Rauzatul Muhibbeen with 18 paintings done by Bahzad, a 13th century CE artist who lived in Iran.
