Indian Development Foundation, formerly known as Indian Leprosy Foundation celebrated its awards and grants function for the year 2012-13 on Saturday. A grand public function was conducted at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram, Baghlingampally. Various schools participated in the function and kids could be seen dressed up in colourful attire and costumes. The teachers were kept busy with the task of guiding the guests to their seats, taking care of participants of the show et al.

Grants to various leprosy/tuberculosis projects/ hospitals in the AP region were conferred at the function. Principals and children of various schools who had performed amicably the previous year were honoured by the Chief Guest and the guests of honour.

Chief Guest of the function was Shaik Mohammad Saleem, Deputy Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyala Sangatha, Regional Office, Hyderabad. The guests of honour were Dr Kalpagam Polasa, Director-in-charge, National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, Dr Usha Raman, Head, Department of Communications, University of Hyderabad and Rama Hanuman, principal of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Public School, Ramachandrapuram, Hyderabad.

The prestigious Mother Teresa memorial award was given to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Public School, Ramachandrapuram, Hyderabad for the outstanding social responsibility work rendered in the areas of health awareness, resource mobilization and humanitarian services in Andhra Pradesh region in the year 2012-13.
