Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand directed police officers to gear up for the forthcoming Ganesh Utsav which is to be held from September 9 to 19. He convened a meeting with all the DCPs, ACPs and inspectors of Cyberabad at his office on Friday.
He directed the DCPs of all the zones to collect the information regarding where the idols would be set up and the distance between the place of installation and immersion. He suggested that the law and order, traffic inspectors inspect the proposed place of Pandals and to check if the organisers had obtained all the required clearances. “Permission should be given only after thorough verification,” he said. He told the officers that there should be a check on the height and size of the idols also.
“A prior permission will be needed to hire DJ/Music systems, mike/light systems. If the permission is ignored, a case will be registered against suppliers and the equipment will be seized”, he stated. He mentioned that the usage of DJ and music system was banned during Bonalu.
The commissioner suggested that Ganesh Committee meetings should start from September 1. He directed the police that peace committees must be formed which must consist of the youth and the elderly of that particular area at every police station. He stressed that the committees must consist of all communities, women and retired employees without any political affiliation whatsoever. Cyberabad Joint Commissioner of Police, M Shiva Prasad and all the DCPs, Addl DCPs, ACPs were present in the meeting.
