The concept of pairing fine dining and wines is still at its nascent stage in the country. Abhay Kewadkar plans to turn this around by hosting ‘Gourmet Indulgence’ and introducing an altogether new experience for the citizens of the country

‘Gourmet Indulgence’ is a first-of-its-kind epicurean food and wine journey introduced by Four Seasons Wines. The event will be till September 15 and will pan across six major cities of India at 90 signature restaurants. The event is said to be the largest and the longest celebration of food and wine pairing the country.

Poshvine is associating with Four Seasons Wines to make this a unique and memorable experience. The gourmet extravaganza will serve as a platform for award winning wines of Four Seasons to pair with different styles of cuisine. Each chosen restaurant will serve Oriental, Indian, Japanese and many more in a different style which is generally not prepared in these restaurants otherwise.

The man behind the curtain is Abhay Kewadkar, chief wine maker and director of Four Seasons Wines. He holds the honour of being the first Indian wine maker to have shaped the Indian commercial wine industry in a large way since the country’s independence. He is also responsible for wine making at Indage India Ltd, started in 1988, for the manufacture of sparkling wines for the Indian market.

Apart from his professional pursuits, he is most sought after to conduct tastings, talks, and has been president for many a wine clubs in India. He is committed to educating consumers and growing the wine culture in India. Abhay’s vision is to develop and introduce new varieties of wines in India, and cold climate varietals like pinot noir and chardonnay in the State of Himachal Pradesh.

The menu has been priced attractively across all the select cities; the intent is to allow consumers to relish the experience of savouring the combination of food and wine together. In some of the chosen outlets, Four Seasons Wine experts will engage with the consumers, making small talk and answering the queries on food and wine pairing and at the same time will highlight the uniqueness that each seasoned wine has to offer. For those with the social media bug, a contest is being held wherein people can get their pictures clicked and upload it on Facebook simultaneously sharing the experience of Gourmet

Indulgence, followed by a #FourSeasonsWines, (#name of the city). Winning photographs will get an all expense paid trip to the Four Seasons Winery at Baramati, Pune and also stand a chance of winning other exciting goodies.

Gourmet Indulgence is one of a kind event being held in the country for the first time and top names of the hospitality industry are naturally a part of it. Top hotels including Novotel Hotel, Urban Asia, Via Milano, The Golkonda Hotel, Dakshin, K & K are part of the event. Celebrated chefs like Chef Mohan Kunwar, Chef Anirudh Gupta, Chef Gaurav and many more will work their magic to pair the best of their dishes with wine from the Four Seasons portfolio.
