The exhibition on Solar Systems held at Necklace Road is a good start to bridge the gap between solar companies and consumers. People could avail the information easily and the companies which held their presentation made people understand the benefits of installing solar panels in their households and the procedure for installation was also explained

New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of AP Limited (NREDCAP) and AP Transmission Corporation Limited (APTRANSCO) and APDISCOMs have organised an exhibition on ‘Rooftop Solar Systems and Net Metering’ at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road.

The exhibition was a platform that brought together companies like Tata Power Solar, Sun Technologies, HBL Power Systems Limited and many others who focus on Solar Photovoltaics technology, manufacturing, production and deployment. A common platform to initiate a dialogue between prospective employee and their employers.

There were discussions held on the advantages, incentives, requirements and the procedure for getting clearance. A minimum of 100 sq ft vacant rooftop is all that is required for the installation of one KWp. The Central Financial Assistance is almost 30% of the system cost provided by MNRE. In addition, the State government will provide 20% subsidy for installation. The cost of the solar system varies with the capacity of the system, which ranges approximately between Rs 80,000 to Rs 1,10,000 per KW.

Net Metering is one such process through which renewable energy producers measure and sell their surplus energy back to the utility company. When your solar panel system is generating electricity, your meter spins backwards to ‘bank’ any electricity you do not use. At the end of a billing cycle, if you have produced more energy than you have consumed, you can sell net electricity back to the utility company.
