Sahayam Psychological Counseling Centre of Osmania University organised a “Suicide Prevention Program”, supported by UGC on Wednesday at the Arts College, Osmania University . Prof C Beena, Head, Department of Psychology, Osmania University who is also a coordinator of Sahayam threw light on the increasing rate of suicides in India. According to the data, suicides in India are estimated to be around 324 per day with deaths of 207 men and 116 women. This includes 66 housewives, 122 people in the age group of 0-29 years, 112 between 30-44 years of age and 90 people who are 45 years and above. 1,186 deaths are accidents which raises a question of whether accidents can be treated as suicides.

Sahayam helped him overcome mental tension and built his confidence levels. He is now actively participating in counseling sessions and also guiding other students too.
