10 lakh people were estimated to have assembled at the Hussain Sagar Lake on Wednesday to witness the gala processions and immersion of Ganesh idols. People bid farewell to Lord Ganesh amidst a riot of colours, traditional dance and music, with thousands of big and small idols of the Elephant God immersed under tight security. Amidst all the frenzy, many children participated actively in the immersion process. Youngsters led the procession with a barrage of devotional songs and reverberant chants of ‘Ganapathi Bappa Moriya, Adha Laddu Choriya’. One procession which caught the attention of the public was the ‘Ganesha on Wheels’ where a series of Elephant God’s idols were carried on a trolley, one behind the other.

The authorities were on their toes, monitoring and cleaning the huge chunk of debris in and around the Hussain Sagar Lake, almost nonstop. While, most of them stayed indoors early in the morning owing to heavy rain, towards the evening, the cloud burst did not become a dampener as crowds swelled to witness the Lord’s immersion. The crowd was also treated to some entertainment, with one family performing the tight-rope walk near Khairatabad. The vibrant send-off to Lord Ganesha, which has become a signature of the twin cities, was reiterated with over 65,000 Ganesh idols immersed on Wednesday
