Water connections, now through Mee Seva

At last, people will no longer have to visit the water board divisional offices and make rounds for months together for new connections. After careful studies and much deliberation, the officials at the water board are planning to outsource the process of new connections to Mee Seva.

Earlier for a new connection, one had to logon to www.hyderabadwater.gov.in and had to fill in the application form. He then had to take the application form and submit it at the divisional office along with other related documents at the divisional office. If the application was for 15mm connection, then the section officer would clear the file; if it was for the 25mm connection, then the divisional manager would clear it. The entire process took at least two months time and the applicant had to make many rounds to the office.

To streamline the process, the top brass decided to outsource the new connection to Mee Seva. According to the proposed system, the applicant for a new water connection has to login into the water board website, fill the application form and submit it along with the related documents at the Mee Seva office in the region.

After submitting the application and the documents, the Mee Seva officials, will send the same to the water board and give an ID number to the applicant which he or she can track the status over phone. The applicant will also be getting SMS updates as well.

It’s all a bright picture till now. But with reports coming that not all services are being taken up Mee Seva, it would be interesting to see, how the things pan out.
