Maintain GHMC Like a 5-Star Hotel, Employees Grievance Redressal Meeting. The GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar conducted the employees grievance redressal meeting, at the head office on Thursday.
The GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar conducted the employees grievance redressal meeting, at the head office on Thursday. In the meeting, he directed the executive engineer (EE), building maintenance, to depute a team of sanitation workers to maintain a tidy office. He further directed the EE to inspect the drainage pipelines and prepare estimates to take up the works.
The commissioner visited the GHMC printing press and enquired about the working conditions of the existing printing machines and found that four printing machines were completely out of order and repairs to the machines couldn’t be taken up as they were completely outdated
The commissioner further directed the officials of the engineering department to ensure that the GHMC building is maintained properly. He asked the officials to visit a few 5-star hotels in the city to see how the toilets were maintained. He asked them to prepare estimates for the working on the same lines within a week’s time. Apart from building inspection, the employees also presented their grievances with regard to their pensions, transfers, promotions and other establishment matters.
There were also complaints with reference to the GHMC printing press and also those pertaining to the payment of outsourced employees.In response to the problems pertaining to the GHMC printing press, the commissioner said that he would inspect it and action would be initiated after examining the need for modernisation.
The Commissioner directed the additional commissioner (admn) to personally monitor all the grievances pertaining to establishment matters on priority and sort out the issues at the earliest. Further on, the Commissioner interacted with the outsourced staff who worked as security guards and in housekeeping, where he enquired about their problems. He assured them, that all possible help would be given to them and instructed them to perform their duties more effectively.
The station fire officers working in five zones requested for a petrol allowance as each one of them had to inspect the entire zone. Some of the newly appointed employees requested for clarity regarding pension contribution scheme.
The women employees have requested to appoint one clerical cadre employee to take care of the baby care centre existing in GHMC Head Office. Later in the evening, the commissioner visited the GHMC printing press and enquired about the working conditions of the existing printing machines and found that four printing machines were completely out of order and repairs to the machines couldn’t be taken up as they were completely outdated.
The commissioner inspected all the 45 job works undertaken by the press and opined that if better facilities were provided, they could take up various types of job works with more efficiency. While going round the building, the commissioner observed that posters, banners were being displayed and erected in the building premises and said that it is the duty of the GHMC to keep the city clean and the GHMC should start the cleaning process from its residence. He directed the maintenance staff for immediate cleaning. He wanted the premises of the GHMC free of posters and banners. All in all, over 250 odd grievances were received from all the zones and offices.
