Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (BIACH&RI) and PINCC (Prevention International No Cervical Cancer) USA, jointly organised a specialised training programme for preventing Cervical Cancer in the city.
The training programme was held for physicians, gynecologists, nurses and other medical staff of the hospital. The objective of this initiative was to create sustainable programmes for preventing cervical cancer by educating and treating women and training the medical personnel.
"Cervical cancer is a deadly disease which kills 3,00,000 women worldwide each year, even though it is completely preventable. It requires a well laid- out training programme, to not only create better awareness, but also to educate people involved in the programme," said Dr Ginger Reddy of PINCC, USA.
As part of this agreement, PINCC-USA would provide necessary training to its personnel and also assist BIACH&RI to develop necessary skills to undertake cervical cancer prevention programmes.
