Western Digital (WD) company and storage industry leader plans to increase its focus on Andhra Pradesh. As part of a multiple city tour that will span for several weeks and touch a number of cities across India, WD will showcase its wide range of products in Hyderabad. With the growing adoption of internal hard drives and full-fledged storage solutions that are designed for consumers, SMBs and enterprises; Andhra Pradesh is among the important markets for WD in India.
Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Vizag, Rajmundry, Nellore and Kakinada are the primary cities that are driving the demand for consumer storage solutions in Andhra Pradesh. WD is increasing its focus in the state by offering a wider product portfolio, and increasing availability of its products through a wider distribution network.
“Our goal with the Hyderabad tour is to reach out to the end users, system integrators and channel partners in the city through various initiatives, educate them on the real world benefits of our various products and solutions and get valuable feedback to understand the demand patterns better,” said Subroto Das, Director, India & South Asia, WD. “Andhra Pradesh has always been an important market for WD as we have seen a consistent demand for premium products such as the My Passport, Red drives, Black drives, My Book Live and Studio, which tells us that consumers in Andhra Pradesh have a very real need for world class products that enable them to live their digital lives to the fullest.” The majority of consumers in Andhra Pradesh are actively choosing higher capacity internal hard disks. While 500 GB drives contributed the most to the total number internal drives sold in Andhra Pradesh in 2012, the demand for higher capacity drives is expected to increase further.
WD products designed for SMBs and enterprises are also seeing positive adoption in Hyderabad owing to an increase in the number of new businesses being set up. “Being a major IT hub, Hyderabad sees a huge demand for storage products. In terms of volumes sold, we expect Hyderabad to grow at a healthy rate of 18% in the next six months,” added Das.
WD products are sold in Andhra Pradesh through a strong network that comprises five National distributors, eight partners, 300 resellers and 60 system integrators.
WD’s current marketing campaign will reach out to end users in Hyderabad across all three market segments via on-ground, in-city activities and via social platforms such as Facebook.
