The officials at the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) have put up plans for Comprehensive Transportation Study (CTS) – 2041 and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) – 2031 at their office for public opinion from November 27. Along with the all the offices of the HMDA, plans were also put up at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Commission (APSRTC) and Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) offices. Any recommendations and objections can be made to the draft plans.
It has been 36 days since and the HMDA officials have shockingly received 10 responses. It doesn’t end here. Out of 10; only 2 responses were from the city the rest were from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. This leaves us with the question: Does the public even bother what is happening to the city?
The responses to the draft plan can be mailed to [email protected] or can be sent via post to the HMDA main office at Tarnaka. If it is related to ITS, it should be mailed to [email protected]. Both the plans can be accessed via web on www.ctshma2011.com.
CTS-2041 aims at a complete makeover of the city in a period of 30 years. BRTS, second phase of MMTS, bike stations, footpaths, ROBs, RUBs, flyovers etc would be constructed to overhaul the transportation system in the city.
ITS-2031 aims at regulating traffic so that one can no longer wait for long hours in traffic. Not only traffic regulation, ITS also focuses on security and also helps monitor the pollution levels. CCTV cameras, HTRIMS, flood sensors and pollution monitoring devices would be part of ITS-2031.
