Arjuna awardee and ace badminton star PV Sindhu took part in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at the Lingampalli Railway Station on Saturday.

Ace shuttler PV Sindhu took part in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on Saturday and cleaned the Lingampalli Railway Station. She was joined by railway staff, public and school students, who actively wielded broomsticks. She exhorted the public to actively take part in the programme and appealed to them to not litter and spit in public places

Arjuna awardee and ace badminton star PV Sindhu took part in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at the Lingampalli Railway Station on Saturday. She joined hands with the Secunderabad division of South Central Railway (SCR) and swept the surroundings of Lingampalli station along with the railway staff. She also administered the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan pledge to the partakers.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindhu said, “It’s a good initiative by the prime minister and is the need of the hour. It should reach everyone and everyone should take part to make it a huge success. Every one of us has the responsibility to maintain cleanliness at our home, colonies and public places such as railway stations and bus stands. We have to stop littering and spitting at any place other than garbage bins and spittoons to keep our surroundings clean.”

Sindhu thanked Sania Mirza for nominating her. “I am happy and privileged to be nominated by Sania Mirza. I sincerely hope that in the coming years, every locality would be clean and green,” the athlete said.

She appealed to the public to help railways maintain cleanliness on its premises and train compartments to ensure a happy and pleasant journey. Sindhu nominated Leader Paes and Jwala Gutta to take part in the challenge.

Sindhu and the railway officers exhorted the school students, railway employees, rail passengers and the public who came forward to actively participate in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the future by maintaining cleanliness and spreading the message to others to achieve the goal of clean Bharat. During the shramdhaan, the participants cleaned the circulating areas of the Lingampalli stations including its approach roads and vehicle parking areas.
