Telangana surgeon Dr Suresh Chandra was elected as the president of the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI) and took up the prestigious position from former president Dr Palanivelu at a conference held in Dubai on Sunday. In 2007, he was elected as secretary of the association comprising of 7,200 members.

Telangana surgeon Dr Suresh Chandra was elected as the president of the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI) and took up the prestigious position from former president Dr Palanivelu at a conference held in Dubai on Sunday. In 2007, he was elected as secretary of the association comprising of 7,200 members. He will hold the position of president for the next two years.

Dr Suresh Chandra is the first ever surgeon from Telangana to become the national president of the association whose primary objective is to bring advanced laproscopic surgical treatment all over India. He was also an active part of the Telangana Statehood Movement and worked as a co-chairman for Doctors of Telangana State. AMASI is also involved in imparting academic knowledge to its members and training practical skills in the surgeons.
