Residents of West Deendayal Nagar in Neredmet are miffed with the government authorities over the open nalas in the locality. The problem has been lingering on for over a year at road number 2, 7 and 7/1. Residents complain that many a time the drain water overflows and remains stagnant at certain pockets of the colony.

President of the colony Nampally Ravi said, “Only 80 per cent of the underground drainage pipeline works have been completed so far. Mosquito menace is our utmost concern as drainwater overflows and many in the colony have suffered dengue, chicken guinea and other viral diseases. Desptie repeated complaints to the GHMC and MLA C Kanaka Reddy, the nalas remain open.”

“Added to our woes, the sewage lines of nearby localities like Dinakar Nagar and Kakatiya Nagar have been merged with ours. We appeal to the authorities to divert the sewage lines,” he added. Senior citizen CH Raghava Rao laments, “I have been a victim of dengue due to the open nalas and there are many others who have been suffering from various diseases. I request the concerned authorities to take up the underground drainage work on priority basis to fix the problem and to save the residents from life threatening diseases.”
