Laxman’s academy comes up at Sreenidhi.It was a dream come true for over 125 youngsters who aspire to make a name in the chosen sport when they entered the sprawling ground at Sreenidhi International School at Aziznagar in the city outskirts on Sunday.
It was a dream come true for over 125 youngsters who aspire to make a name in the chosen sport when they entered the sprawling ground at Sreenidhi International School at Aziznagar in the city outskirts on Sunday.They should consider themselves as the blessed ones because they will be under the tutelage of none other than V V S Laxman and his band of six dedicated coaches.
Providing the platform for these youngsters, who have also come from other schools, will be the uniquely conceptualised summer coaching camp under the joint auspices of the school and VVS Laxman Sports Academy. The exclusive camp runs through till the first week of June and will have two batches-7 am to 9.30 am and 3.30 pm to 6 pm.
The boys were all ears when the master delivered a pep talk that will be the first ‘real’ learning for these starry-eyes youngsters. The practical classes will go full stream from Monday morning.Laxman extolled the youngsters to think beyond cricket and develop equally crucial traits like discipline and personality development to emerge as all-rounders in all facets of life.
The cricketer-turned-commentator said he was proud to be associated with Sreenidhi International School, which had everything that is required of a good cricket ground, including three turf wickets, two cement wickets, and an equal number of matting and astro-turf wickets among other infrastructural facilities.The gentleman in Laxman has not forgotten to repay a debt to his own guru, Ashok, who has now been appointed as the chief coach of the six-member coaching team that also includes a physiotherapist.

“VVS Sports Academy is a tribute to the game that has made me what I am today. My passion for cricket, coupled with the urge to give back my experience to the game has prompted me to come up with the initiative of setting up a cricket academy. I am confident that we are on the path of creating one of the finest cricketing academies in the world,” Laxman said while his long-term dream of producing quality cricketers from the camp, which is to become a full-fledged one after the new academic year gets going.
Dr K T Mahhe, chairman of Sreenidhi International School, said that it is the constant endeavour of the school to bring out the best in every child.“We aspire to grow as an institute that introduces innovations to meet the demands of a growing market,” he reassured the students and the elders present on the occasion.
