The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has started the annual operation of desilting storm water drains. In all, 321 works are being undertaken at a cost of Rs 28.48 crore. The tendering process is completed and the deadline to complete the works is April 30. Last year the corporation completed 297 desilting works at a cost of Rs 21.22 crore.

The tendering process is completed and the deadline to complete the works is April 30. Last year the corporation completed 297 desilting works at a cost of Rs 21.22 crore.

The list of works being undertaken is available on the GHMC website. This year the pre measurements of levels of silt and length of drains are taken up and for the first time photographs of pre and post desilting would be taken to take stock of the work.The vehicles that transport the silt would be monitored with GPS and OSRT tracking system. Jawahar Nagar has been identified as the dumpsite and the weight would be recorded.
