The Nishumbita Ballet and Theatre Group will be staging William Shakespeare's ‘'The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark' at Ravindra Bharathi on Sunday. Directed by Dr Rammohan Holagundi, the play is being staged to commemorate the bard’s birth anniversary. The play is Shakespeare’s longest and most influential writings and talks about a young, charming prince changing into a confused, revengeful yet determined man trying to avenge his father's murder.

The theatre group came into existence in 1995 to promote the values of dance and theatre among the populace of the twin cities especially the youth and it works with the motto of promoting social values and the culture of dramatic excellence. The group boasts of 75 members of amateur as well as professional artistes actively working towards quality theatre. Nishumbita has been consistently staging Indian as well as western plays, children’s plays, street plays, mimes and ballets, many of which have been showcased in national and international festivals.
