Transport Commissioner P Mahender Reddy announced that Aadhar card is no longer a compulsory document for new auto rickshaw proceedings. Auto Driver unions have been protesting for almost two weeks to remove the Aadhar number as a necessary document.

The minister announced the decision on Thursday but added that the allotees of new autos need to submit any valid document such as voter ID or other documents as prescribed by the government. Till date 5942 proceedings have been completed all in the OC quota but there have been irregularities and the Transport department identified 144 cases.
