It was celebration time all around the Masab Tank-based complex housing Sports Coaching Foundation (SCF). Cricketers in the Under-12, 14 and 16 categories were at hand for the award presentation ceremony on the conclusion of the 18th edition of the popular age-group cricket tournament for Boston Cup.

Cricketers in the Under-12, 14 and 16 categories were at hand for the award presentation ceremony on the conclusion of the 18th edition of the popular age-group cricket tournament for Boston Cup.
The tournament is being conducted for the past 18 years by Boston Mission High School (BMHS), located at Kaley Pather in Tadban, under active collaboration of SCF, whose founder-Secretary K Sai Baba and BMHS founder-correspondent Mohd Shaker Ahmed conceptualised the day/night tournament, specifically to promote the sport in Old City.
This time, though, there was the atmosphere was sombre as this was the first event since the untimely demise of Shaker Ahmed, who lost his life’s battle to cancer, at a young age. His contributions towards promoting sports with a good natured demeanor were recalled by all speakers in the brief ceremony. The event is now dedicated to his memory.
KR Rajkumar and MA Muqtadar, President and Joint Secretary of TNGO’s School Education Department, who jointly gave away the prizes, praised both BMHS management and Sai Baba for their efforts to perpetuate the memory of a wonderful sports promoter, who also strove for a vibrant academic culture in the Old City.
Former cricketer and seasoned coach, Momin Patel, and Sai Baba were eloquent in their praise of Shaker Ahmed while recalling their long association. Coming to cricketing aspects, it was a grand double for Supercat Cricket Academy of which Momin Patel is the founder-head coach. The Academy won the Under-14 and 16 championships while SCF Reds triumphed in the Under-12 category.
Individual awards were also given away in all three categories, including man of the match, player of the series, best batsman, and best bowler. Mohd Imran Ahmed welcomed the gathering while Mohd Firdous retraced the eventful 18-year journey of Boston Cup. Naser Ahmed proposed a vote of thanks. Placing: Under-12: 1. SCF Reds, 2.
