Hyderabad: Pedestrians and joggers have been facing difficulties due to unconstructed footpath and locked toilets near N Kodandaram Park in Bholakpur.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had constructed a public toilet near the park for the benefit of joggers and park users in 2015 but, the toilets have been locked and not open for public use.

The foundation stone for the toilet was laid by Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and MLA K Laxman on November 29, 2015.

Likewise, the road near the park was dug up for construction of the footpath nearly six months ago but, the works are still pending leaving pedestrians no other choice but to walk on the road.

A regular walker at N Kodandaram Park, Sandeep said there are more than 100 walkers who come to the park regularly but, the authorities failed to provide a public toilet. He said many people pass urinal in the open near the park due to which bad smell emanates.

The public toilet which was constructed in 2015 had not been open till date, he added.
Former Floor Leader (INC) GHMC Mohammed Wajid Hussain said as the walkers were facing a lot of problem with people defecating in the open, the foundation for the public toilet was laid in 2015.

Though the construction had been completed it is not yet open to use. He said in the year 2015 Rs 5 lakh had been sanctioned for the construction but, now the authorities claim that there is some water connection problem due to which the toilets are closed for public use.Assistant Engineer of GHMC Tirupati assured that the public toilet will be opened at the earliest.
