Moinabad: The Security Wing of State Intelligence Department, Telangana organised “Dikshant Parade’’ the passing out parade of 17th batch of Canines and Canine handlers” on Monday at its sprawling campus here. S K Joshi, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Telangana was the Chief Guest, M Mahendar Reddy, DGP, Telangana, Additional DGP Gopikrishna, IPS, Jitender, IPS, Sandeep Sandiliya and many senior police officers and others participated.
M K Singh, OSD, Intelligence Security Wing, Telangana, has stated that the present batch has 71 dogs and 92 dog handlers from Arunachal Pradesh (06), Tripura (04), CISF (03), Greyhounds, TS (02), OCTOPUS (03), ISW (02) and 51 from other units of Telangana State who have been graduated after undergoing eight months of rigorous training to perform field duties in the category of tracker, sniffer, assault and narcotic fields in their respective units. The canines include Labrador, German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Doberman and Golden Retriever breeds.
Sri V.Naveen Chand, IPS, IGP, Intelligence, Telangana, in his address informed the salient features of ‘Canine Training Centre’ which started training with 11 canines in 2004 has so far trained 507 canines from Telangana, A.P, and other states.
The Chief Secretary gave away the medals to the outstanding canines in various categories. Later, the DGP along with Telangana Police Housing Corporation Limited Chairman Molestie Damodar and MD B Malla Reddy, IPS, inaugurated new kennel complex for 20 canines. M Ramakrishna, Additional SP, IITA, Moinabad, proposed vote of thanks.
The Chief Secretary appreciated the canine handlers and the canines for their turnout, obedience and skills displayed during the parade. The Integrated Intelligence Training Academy has to gear up to prepare the police forces for future challenges of extremism and terrorism in the country, he said.
DGP in his remarks, while addressing the officers stated that the professional competence of the police has to be constantly improved through regular training programs. The police work relating to investigation of cases, security of VIP’s, vital installations is assessed by the community who expect the police to be protectors at all times. The Integrated Intelligence Training Academy has been a good example of excellence in police work.
