Afzalgunj: Voices for new building for patients in the premises of Osmania General Hospital (OGH) grew stronger and hospital staff has started protesting in support of their demand.

Doctors and other medical staff have been striving for the new building inside the premises so that patient services can be improved and doctors get the better basic facilities while on duty.

Medical JAC leaders have given different representations to the officials concerned and the Health Minister too. The old structure is damaged at many places and many wards of the old building have been under very bad condition.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had earlier proposed to demolish the entire structure which received severe flak from heritage activists and opposition political parties. Heritage activists however, pushed for immediate attention towards renovation and restoration of the iconic building.

Medical JAC chairman Dr Pandu Naik said that their struggle for a separate building with all the necessary facilities was the priority over any other work in the hospital.
He said that patients and medical staff, including doctors are afraid of working under the old structure and the State government not taking any initiative to renovate or restore the building.

He said, “There is a lot of space available in the premises and government should take up the construction of new building with modern facilities in the general interest of public and medical staff.”

OGH medical staff threatened that they will intensify their protest until the construction of the new building in the hospital premises in the coming days.
